Watercooler Talk
CINCINNATI (AP) — Authorities said a man upset with how his case was going bolted from a Cincinnati courtroom and was chased by police officers on hand to testify in other cases. Officials said the 27-year-old man made his run at the Hamilton County Courthouse Tuesday after a judge increased his bond on drug charges and placed him under house arrest.

Deputies radioed to officers in the building to cover the exits while the man raced down two flights of stairs. He was caught and returned to the courtroom, where he cursed the judge, his attorney, the deputies and others.

Judge Steve Martin ordered the man jailed on contempt for running and cursing.

In Tuesday’s story, “Fire department may have to borrow cash,” The Signal misquoted Los Angeles County Fire Department spokesman Capt. Mike Brown. The state is looking to borrow $44 million from Los Angeles County. The fire department has cut back on nonessential services, but is not presently seeking to borrow money. The Signal regrets the error.

In the Wednesday, June 10 edition of The Signal, a headline said, “City approves MRF.” That headline was incorrect. The city approved a suggested list of members for a site-finding committee for a proposed materials recovery facility, or MRF.
