SCV's crumbling road proves magnet for curious

County Public Works officials arranging to fence off Vasquez Canyon Road as earth continues to move

Concerned that a mysteriously buckling stretch of Vasquez Canyon Road has become a tourist trap and could prove dangerous, Los Angeles County Public Works Department officials began erecting a fence around the site Tuesday and said the land is still moving.

“It’s not a recreation center — it’s an unsafe place,” Public Works spokesman Steven Frasher said Tuesday. “We get that it looks cool, but it’s a very dangerous area to be on.”
