Supervisor Michael D. Antonovich introduced a motion supporting federal legislation to allow California veterans to receive college tuition under the Post 9-11 G.I. Bill.

The Veterans Educational Equity Act (introduced by Rep. Howard P. "Buck" McKeon, R-CA) would permit California veterans to use up to the full $6,586.54 benefit to offset tuition and fees.

"This vital legislation will give California veterans the same rights as those in the other 49 states," Antonovich said.

If approved by the Board of Supervisors today, the Executive Officer will send a five-signature letter of support to the County's Congressional Delegation, the Education and Labor Committee and the Armed Service Committees expressing the Board's full support of the Veterans Educational Equity Act.
