Bethlehem Lutheran Church hosts a meeting for potential foster parents from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday at 27265 Luther Drive in Canyon Country.

Nearly 85,000 children in California are removed from their parents’ homes due to abuse or neglect, according to information released by Bethlehem Lutheran. Nine-thousand foster children await adoptive homes.

The Children’s Bureau is seeking parents to nurture at-risk children. Qualifying families receive training, certification and 24-hour support. Families who can provide a home for two or more children are especially needed.

Single or married adults — English or bilingual Spanish speaking — interested in learning more about foster parenting are welcome.
