The Boys & Girls Club of the Santa Clarita Valley wants to thank Congressman Buck McKeon for submitting the SCV Committee on Aging’s transit bus request to be included in the upcoming Surface Transportation Act.

The innovative integrated community services transit program “Moving Santa Forward” will fill the gaps in transit services that the city of Santa Clarita is unable to provide.

Specifically, the Committee on Aging will provide transportation services for the Boys & Girls Club and expedite mentor services between our organizations.

Additionally, the program will expand current partnerships with the Disabled Veterans of America to provide increased passenger trips to Veterans Administration facilities outside the Santa Clarita Valley.

The Boys & Girls Club of the SCV serves 3,000 area youth, many of whom are at-risk. Access to the Boys & Girls Club programs of leadership development, preparation for higher education or arts enrichment is dependent upon transit of these children, many of whom are “latchkey” children.

Congressman McKeon has been a long-time supporter and advocate for the Boys & Girls Club and we are so thankful for his dedication to our community.
