A fire, which gutted the garage of a Canyon Country apartment early Tuesday evening, displaced five people, according to fire officials.

No injuries were reported in the blaze, which broke out at about 6:50 p.m. in the 18000 block of Saratoga Way.

Upon arrival, fire crews found a “vehicle on fire in an underground garage,” said Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Miguel Roneles.

The blaze then spread to a unit above the garage, but responding fire crews were able to quickly beat it back, Roneles said. The fire was extinguished by 7:07 p.m.

A dispatcher said five people were displaced as a result of the fire. The American Red Cross was contacted to provide assistance.

As of 9 p.m., officials did not know the cause of the fire or the extent of the damage to the building.
