For everyone who was whining about the June gloom. Summer has arrived. Are you happy now?

Kudos to Santa Clarita Ballet
The Santa Clarita Ballet always offers enchanting programs, but I really appreciated the depth of the recent program offered at the Santa
Clarita Performing Arts Center on the Valencia campus of College of the Canyons. “The Tales of Beatrix Potter” was enchanting and lovely.

“Dvorak Serenade” was beautiful and swept me away. “G Song/B Side” is a dance that makes you think. Kudos to all involved, especially executive director Corinne Glover and artistic director Carol Guidry. It was all simply enchanting! What a wonderful organization that brings wonderful cultural enrichment to the Santa Clarita Valley.

The Signal’s “Biggest Makeover”
The countdown is on for SCV residents to sign up for The Signal’s “Biggest Makeover” contest. The contest will start accepting signups on July 1. The signup period will end on July 10.

The contest will begin with 40 participants and pair contestants with both a personal trainer and a community nonprofit organization. Every Saturday for nine weeks, contestants will go to the title sponsor’s facility and weigh-in.

The five contestants with the worst performance will be eliminated. Voting will enable eliminated contestants to return, starting in week four.
After eight weeks only 5 contestants will be left. Those contestant’s charities will all receive cash prizes between $500 and $2,500, with the first place winner receiving $500 cash and sponsored goods. Visit on July 1 to sign up.
Silents Under the Stars
One of my favorite events of the year is the annual Silents under the Stars. This year’s event will be held 6 p.m. Saturday Aug. 8 at William S. Hart Park & Museum, 24151 Newhall Ave., Newhall. Tickets are $40 each for a tour of Hart’s Ranch House, silent auction, The Leasebreakers Jug Band and a screening of the silent movie “Sand” starring William S. Hart. Tickets usually sell out fast. RSVP required. Info: (661) 254-4584.

Kudos to Bob and Kathy Kellar
I understand the wed`e Alziebler, the June 13 wedding was an intimate gathering of family and friends.

The former Kathy Keysor-Smith will now be known simply as Kathy Kellar. Congrats to a wonderful couple.

The SCV is home to wonderful people
There are seriously wonderful people living in the SCV. Among them Greg Amsler, Jordana Capra, Lois Bauccio, Jeannie Carpenter, Anna Ott, Karen Campbell, Kathy Kellar, Diana Sevanian, Julie Sturgeon, Bob and Margo Hudson, Cheryl Grey, Alan Barbakow, Michele Mann, Sheryl and John Geraci, Vanessa Wilk, Judy Penman, Jeanna Crawford, Eve Bushman, Donna Lee Giddings, Sharon Bunsick, Elaine Klone, Kathy Crone and all the wonderful folks who showed up Wednesday at the Salt Creek Grille wine tasting to support an after school music program for kids at the SCV Boys & Girls Club.

I know I’m missing numerous names, my bad for not keeping a better guest list!

Happy Birthday to Cassie!
My daughter turns 23 on Saturday. Where does the time go? Happy Birthday to you!
