Two men were arrested in Castaic shortly after 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, after deputies from the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station discovered large amounts of methamphetamines and a weapon inside a vehicle parked on Lake Hughes Road, according to Lt. Tom Bryski.

Jimmy Beserra, 27, and Antonio Duran, 25, were in custody after deputies saw them in a parked vehicle at the 31000 block of Lake Hughes Road with several beer cans on top of their trunk. When deputies came up to the vehicle - which was occupied by Beserra, Duran and two other men - they allegedley smelled marijuana smoke.

The deputies immediately searched the vehicle, and found in Beserra's possession a stolen, loaded gun. They also found a weighing scale - in Duran's possession - and an unknown yet large amount of methamphetamines.

Bryski added that the other two men in the vehicle were not arrested, and they were not suspects in the matter at the time of the arrest.

While in custody, the bail amount for both Beserra and Duran were not made available as of Sunday evening.

The amount of methamphetamines recovered will be reported as soon as it is made available.
