Fourth of July activities in the SCV.  Parade: 9 a.m. Downtown Newhall. Main Street to Lyons to Orchard Village to 16th Street. Fireworks at the mall 9:15 p.m.

A Fourth of July celebration will be held at 2 p.m.  at VFW Post 6885 on 16208 Sierra Highway in Canyon Country. Hamburgers, hot dogs, homemade side  dishes and desert. It is a family event, and current enlisted military personnel eat free all day. Live entertainment will be featured on stage 3 p.m. - 7 p.m., 8 p.m.- midnight. Info:

The 16th annual Fourth of July Celebration Fireworks Show will be held 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. at Castaic Lake. Picnic, swim, children’s rides, games, water slides, jumpers, food booths, family games and music entertainment. Music 5 p.m.  fireworks 9 p.m., $25 per carload at the entrance gates or $5 per person walk-in (5 years and under are free). Lots filled on first-come basis. Outside parking lots will be available. An old-fashioned ice cream social will be held 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, July 5 at the Senior Center, 22900 Market St., Newhall. Enjoy memorable tunes by the Men of Harmony, sing-alongs, magic and lively piano songs. Info: Bill (661) 424-9009 or

July 13
SCV Senior Foundation Golf Showdown. The SCV Senior foundation will host its inaugural golf tournament fundraiser Monday, July 13 at TPC Valencia. Prizes will be offered at each hole and catering will be provided by Salt Creek Grille. Aug. 2
The American Cancer Society will host its inaugural Santa Clarita Valley gala on Sunday, Aug. 2 at the Tournament Players Club (TPC), 26550 Heritage View Lane, Valencia. The Tuscan-themed event will feature live entertainment, food, and wine and aims to raise funds for cancer research and those battling the disease. Sponsors are needed.
