Expect changes in traffic patterns on the Golden Valley Road bridge over Highway 14 starting next Wednesday morning as contractors enter the next phase of a bridge-widening project, Santa Clarita officials announced Thursday.

Traffic will be shifted from the south side of the existing bridge to the newly constructed north side of the bridge. One through lane and left-turn lane will be open in each direction.

The city will use traffic-control devices, signs and flaggers to guide traffic.

Also next week, three park-and-ride lots adjacent to the bridge will be closed on different days as workers fill pot holes, resurface pavement and add striping.

Lot 1, which is closed for repairs, will open Tuesday. Lot 2 will be closed Monday and Tuesday. Lot 3 will close Wednesday until further notice.

Once completed, the project will add two lanes of traffic on the bridge, along with a pedestrian walkway on the north side and a bike path on the south side.
