Julie Olsen, a learning and development leader with PriceWaterhouseCoopers, has announced her intention to run for a seat on the Saugus Union School Board, in Trustee Area 3, in the November election.

“There are lots of great things happening in our Saugus schools, including recent California Gold Ribbon recognition for most school sites, thanks to the tremendous talent and dedication of our educators, staff and parent volunteers, Olsen said. “However, I also see opportunity for improvement and I’m eager to bring my expertise and knowledge of the district to help us achieve the world-class 21st century education that all Saugus students and taxpayers deserve.”

Olsen’s priorities include expanding the use of innovative methods to better align with the goals of the new state standards, improving the district’s abillity to meet the needs of gifted and special education students, enhancing campus security and ensuring long-term fiscal planning and responsible use of Measure EE school bond funds.

Olsen is an active parent leader in the Saugus district where she is a member of the Measure EE Oversight Committee, a School Site Council President, PTA Executive Board officer and member of the district’s Communications and Parent Advisory Committees.

She lives in Valencia with her husband, Robert and their son, who attends school in the district.
