An inmate at Pitchess Detention Center North Facility was found dead at the Castaic jail in the Santa Clarita Valley this week, a spokesman for the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

The inmate was pronounced dead at the scene Wednesday afternoon, Deputy Ryan Rouzan said in a news release.

A Los Angeles County Coroner’s Department spokesman said Thursday the inmate’s identity was not being disclosed.

His death marks the third in less than a month at the jail.

The two previous inmates who collapsed inside the North County Correctional Facility in Castaic were identified as 41-year-old Robert Earl Privott, who died March 20, and Anthony Ambrosino, 46, who died three days later.

Privott died of natural causes due to heart-related medical problems after suffering a seizure at 7:05 a.m. March 20, said coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter.

Ambrosino suffered a medical emergency and was transported from the Pitchess Detention Center to Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital March 23, sheriff’s Deputy Grace Medrano said in March. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

Anyone with information about Wednesday’s inmate death is encouraged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at 323-890-5500, Rouzan said Wednesday.
