Santa Clarita-based singer-songwriter Johnny Strat and his group Project Wavelength play the world-famous Whisky on the Sunset Strip tonight from 8:30 to 10.

Tickets are $10 and available at the door.

Strat, winner of's 2008 SCV Rock Star competition in the amateur category, will be backed by Nick Kline (guitars), Corey Waters (keyboards), Collin Gilliard (raps), Josh Nelson (bass) and Daniel Williams (drums).

The set will include Strat originals and choice covers. "Think John Mayer and Kanye West thrown in a blender," Strat said, describing the band's sound.

Among the performers to play the Whisky in its infamous history are The Doors, Jimi Hendrix and Pink Floyd. The venue is located at 8901 Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood 90069.

"It would be awesome if all our Santa Clarita Valley fans could come out to support us," Strat said.
