College of the Canyons will raise the cost of one-day parking passes from $1 to $2, effective Aug. 3, to help fund the college's new free bus program for students, which will launch in the fall.

Through a partnership between College of the Canyons and the city of Santa Clarita, COC students will be able to ride any city bus anywhere and anytime for the first three weeks of the fall 2009 semester for free.

The college plans to install more daily parking meters in Lot 8 (by the stadium) and by the new University Center, which is set to open in the fall.
