Committed to serving the residents of Valencia with the finest food products, most innovative retail features, customer-friendly service and lower prices, Ralphs Grocery Company announces the opening of a uniquely designed and totally remodeled supermarket at 25930 McBean Parkway in Valencia.

Following nearly two months of renovations, the supermarket is set to celebrate its grand reopening on Wednesday, July 29 at 8 a.m.

Festivities include free food samples and product giveaways. Customers will also have a chance to win a free bag of groceries in the store's "Grocery Bag Giveaway" contest. A bag of groceries will be given away each hour from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, July 29 and July 30.

The store is open daily from 6 a.m. to 1 a.m. to serve customers.

The newly remodeled 46,658 square-foot Ralphs Fresh Fare supermarket features a new décor, new departments and services, wider aisles and a convenient layout that improves our customers' shopping experience while helping to conserve energy and reduce waste.

"We've improved every inch of our McBean Parkway Fresh Fare supermarket, completely redesigning the layout to make shopping easier and expanding key areas to give shoppers even more reasons to think of Ralphs first," said Mike Donnelly, president of Ralphs Supermarkets.

"We have been serving the residents of Valencia since 1995, and this major renovation is one of the many ways we thank our customers for shopping with us."

The remodeled store also uses the latest green technology to improve energy efficiency in daily store operations.

Overall, this store will consume about 15 percent less energy than a typical store today and about 25 percent less energy than a store built in 2000.

The energy reduction features include:

• Lighting: An automated lighting system maintains an energy-efficient schedule, and motion sensors turn off lights in back rooms when no one is around. Compact fluorescent light bulbs at the front of the store also last longer and use less energy than regular light bulbs.

• Cooling: An innovative program electronically controls the store's refrigeration and heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. New high-efficiency fan motors use less electricity to keep food chilled to proper temperatures. An efficient heat recovery system also heats our air, keeping shoppers comfortable while saving energy.

• Water Conservation: Restroom sinks and toilets have automatic sensors to conserve water.

In addition, store members have been trained to follow a waste reduction and recycling program for all paper and plastic packing the store receives. The store also encourages customers to reduce waste by offering affordable reusable shopping bags.

"Ralphs is committed to applying sustainable technology throughout our store operations. It is important to us and our customers," said Donnelly."Our stores use some of the most energy-efficient systems available today that reduce waste and conserve energy."

Donnelly also said that Ralphs appreciates the patience of its McBean Parkway Fresh Fare customers throughout the store's renovation.

"We invite the community to come out and take a look at their all-new McBean Parkway Fresh Fare store," he said. "We believe our valued customers will appreciate the great selection of groceries as well as all of the added services now available at our newly-remodeled McBean Parkway Ralphs."

He also assured that McBean Parkway Ralphs shoppers will be able to depend on Store Director Larry Thompson and his team to provide the finest quality, selection and service.

"We've put together a great team of customer-oriented members who are dedicated to creating the best shopping environment for all of our shoppers," Thompson said.

Customers visiting the remodeled McBean Parkway Ralphs will enjoy an exciting assortment of very special offerings.

These include an abundance of fresh and organic produce, a fully staffed meat department featuring the highest quality meats and fresh seafood, a bakery overflowing with aromas of freshly baked breads and gourmet desserts, and a floral department blooming with fresh flowers and plants.

As an added feature for customers on the go, or for those who simply want a break, the renovated Ralphs also features an enhanced service delicatessen where shoppers will find an array of delicious entrees and side dishes that are prepared fresh daily and ready for takeout.

Customers will also receive great values when they shop at the remodeled McBean Parkway supermarket by saving with the store's grand opening specials and shopping with their Ralphs Rewards Card. Ralphs Rewards is a unique shopper loyalty program that pays customers every time they shop at Ralphs.

Santa Clarita Valley Special Olympics
To highlight the store's grand reopening, Ralphs' charitable organization, The Ralphs Fund, will present a $2,500 grant to the Santa Clarita Valley Region of Special Olympics Southern California.

Donnelly welcomed the opportunity to assist the community.

"We believe in being an active and supportive member of the community," he said. "It is our intention to continue to be a good corporate citizen in Valencia. We are open to new ways to meet community needs and to participate in community improvement initiatives."

Last year, Ralphs Grocery Company contributed more than $8 million to support education, hunger relief, women's health and local nonprofit organizations in the communities served by the company's stores.
