Simply no money left

The Signal carried a story Thursday, July 16 ("Mom challenges disability cuts") about a rally in downtown L.A. to protest cuts in the state budget for disabled persons.

The accompanying photo shows a crowd and a disabled person and his mother.

These people are upset about the cuts, but what they and many others do not realize is that there is no money for anything, no matter how good the cause.

Things like this always strike me as the ultimate in futility. It is much like Don Quixote riding off to do battle with some windmill.
Rather than complain about the cuts, they should have earlier been admonishing our state government for its wasteful spending habits.

You could not run your own budget the way it has been run without ending up in bankruptcy court.

If you spent fully half of your budget on pizza and beer (education) and another 30 percent on spas and vacations (unions and illegal aliens), you would have very little left to take care of the essentials.

Forty years of mismanagement with no one asking for an accounting leads to where we are now.

The politicians in Sacramento have squandered the resources of the state and brought it to financial ruin.

Liberal policy is such that it will eventually destroy whatever it touches.

We need an education system responsive to education, not one that seeks to become all-powerful.

Vouchers would go a long way toward solving this problem.

What is so frustrating is that most people realize this and yet it never happens. The taxpayer seems powerless in the face of the politicians.

We pay billions for illegals in California and it is money wasted. There is no return on investment.

Policy like this is why we can not take care of our own disabled. We drive business out and complain there is not enough tax money.

The chicken has come home to roost. It is time we elect people who will do the job right and not bow down to the threats from the unions or activists for the illegals.
