Regarding Bruce Hector’s “Health care reform needs to be bipartisan” opinion column (The Signal, Aug. 3): From the first sentence, it is obvious Dr. Hector is incorrect.

Although Republicans have objected to this, the blue-dog Democrats have been holding it up in the Senate.

Strike 1: In the next sentence, he refutes the idea of more than 100 million people signing up for the public option.

While majoring in economics, you learn about the direct crowding-out effect (crowding out is any reduction in private consumption or investment that occurs because of an increase in government spending).

Strike 2: Literally the next sentence Dr. Hector talks about the alleged rationing of care and delayed care.

Once again, he is incorrect.

The National Center for Policy Analysis came out with a study that all Americans should read:

Please, Dr. Hector, read the study and then respond.
