"Connecting to Success," a workplace readiness business conference for high school students, is looking for facilitators to share important life and interpersonal skills with today's students in preparation for entrance into the workforce and success in life at all three workshops on Oct. 8, Oct. 22 and Nov. 12 at Grace Baptist Church in Santa Clarita from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Work-readiness session topics include:
* Communicating your Value - the importance of interpersonal skills in resumes and interviewing
* Ethics in the Workplace - what are ethics and why are they important in business
* Financial Literacy - how to protect and build your financial future, basic banking and credit

You will be presenting the same activity for each conference event to three sessions of students from Bowman, Canyon, Golden Valley, Hart, Saugus, Sequoia, Valencia and West Ranch High Schools.

Over 100 volunteer mentors from the business community lead students through role-playing, case studies, group discussions, and individual assessments to build workplace professionalism, and the ability to influence others as responsible adults.

Connecting to Success was developed in the Santa Clarita Valley through the partnership of the Valley Industrial Association of Santa Clarita (VIA) and Junior Achievement of Southern California (JA). Since 2003 VIA and JA have partnered to deliver this unique and innovative program to high school juniors in the Santa Clarita Valley.

Beginning with a few hundred students from Valencia High School, Connecting to Success has grown into a program that is replicated in communities across the nation. This year more than 2000 students will participate in Connecting to Success in the Santa Clarita Valley.
