Looking for some exotic place to visit, but you just don't want the hassle of packing suitcases, waiting endlessly in airport lines, exchanging money? Join Soroptimist International of Santa Clarita Valley noon to 3 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 4 at the Oaks Grille at the Tournament Players Club in Valencia for the sixth annual Bras for a Cause event - "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Bra - Bras from Around the World."

Guests can participate in this unique fundraiser simply by purchasing a "passport" for $65 from any member of Soroptimist International of SCVS or by visiting

Passports will provide admission to the event, one drink ticket and a commemorative wine glass, sponsored by Hillary Broadwater of QM Design, which you can use during the event for a special wine tasting hosted by Vino 100.

The Oaks Grille at TPC will be filled with lingerie art, wine, appetizers, silent auction items and opportunity raffles as guests gather to bring awareness to breast cancer.

More than 40 donated bras decorated in various world themes will be offered to the public through silent auction.

If interested in donating a bra, donor forms can be obtained on the SISCV Web site.

Decorated bras can be dropped off at Rituals Colour Salon located at 26918 The Old Road, Valencia during normal business hours.

The bras will be on display at the salon until the day of the event. A special reception for sponsors and donors will be held at Rituals on Friday.

Guests will have the opportunity to explore the "Bras from Around the World," make bids for individual favorites and visit the select number of vendors on hand for additional browsing and shopping pleasure.

The annual Bras for a Cause event is particularly significant to Soroptimist International of SCV as the funds raised help to support the club's mission of improving the lives of women and girls, and a portion of the proceeds will go directly to the Sheila R. Veloz Breast Imaging Center.

There is a room named in Soroptimist's honor at the center as a result of a $10,000 donation made in 2005 to complete the examination room.

Soroptimist International is the largest female service organization in the world with more than 90,000 members in 125 countries and territories.

The mission of the organization is to improve the lives of women and girls locally and around the world.
