The city of Santa Clarita invites Newhall Redevelopment Area businesses and property owners to attend informational workshops regarding the Newhall Redevelopment Small Business Grant Program, and Old Town Newhall Building Improvement Grant Program.

Workshops will be held to jointly discuss the programs on Thursday, Oct. 15 from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. at William S. Hart Park's Hart Hall, and again from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Santa Clarita City Hall's first floor Council Chambers.

The Newhall Redevelopment Grant Program, made possible by the city's 21-Point Business Plan for Progress and Redevelopment Agency, provides twenty $5,000 grants to qualifying businesses. It is designed to foster business growth, expansion and retention in the Newhall Redevelopment Project Area.

The Old Town Newhall Building Improvement Grant Program, made possible through Federal Reinvestment and Recovery Act funds, provides grants to commercial properties within the grant program area to improve and restore the visual appearance and structural integrity of buildings for years to come. A total of $275,000 is available and will be awarded on a first come, first serve basis. Grants can be awarded up to $20,000 per building.

"Every company located within the Newhall Redevelopment Area is a small business- and a critical part of the local economy," said Mayor Frank Ferry "These important grant programs assist these businesses in providing quality services, products, innovations, and new job opportunities while helping transform Downtown Newhall into the Arts and Entertainment District it is destined to become."

The workshops will provide information regarding grant programs, the application processes, eligibility criteria, and details about the grant awards timeline.

William S. Hart Park's Hart Hall is located at 24151 Newhall Avenue. Santa Clarita City Hall is located at 23920 Valencia Boulevard.
