An audience of nearly 400 packed the Hyatt Regency Valencia as city officials each laid out their plans for the upcoming government fiscal year during Santa Clarita's annual State of the City luncheon.

Held Monday, the "Steering the course for stability" luncheon combined a review of the 2009 fiscal year as well as promoting a number of programs aimed at stimulating business locally.

City Manager Ken Pulskamp brought out a 21-point, $5 million stimulus plan that would combine tax credits, grants and fee waivers for local buisnesses.

Each city council member made a brief presentation on projects they were currently working on, including Mayor Frank Ferry's outreach to local youth, Bob Kellar's graffitti-removal campaign and Marsha McLean's focus on transit and city landscaping.

During a brief question-and-answer session following the luncheon, Pulskamp reiterated the postive direction the luncheon theme had set forth.

"Santa Clarita, you're in good hands with the group that's at the helm," Pulskamp said.
