LOS ANGELES — West Ranch Town Councilman Dave Bossert wore two hats at Tuesday’s meeting of the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors: He played the role of both Disney executive and concerned citizen.

Bossert was among four executives from Disney and Underwriter’s Laboratory, who teamed up to produce an informational video that can be used to teach kids about fire safety.

Bossert, who serves on the West Ranch Town Council, was all smiles while acting as executive for Disney at the Board of Supervisors meeting.

“Disney has a rich history of educational films,” he said. “For October, which is fire safety month, we teamed up with Underwriter’s Laboratory to produce this video.”

Underwriter’s Laboratory is an independent product safety certification organization.

Bossert and Disney cashed in on the popularity of the feature length animation movie “The Lion King” to send the message on fire safety.

The video, which played during the Board of Supervisors meeting, featured “The Lion King” characters Timon and Pumbaa to drive
home the message of fire safety.

Bossert and the executives from Disney and Underwriter’s Laboratory presented certificates of safety to each Supervisor, to acknowledge the board’s commitment to public safety.

The character Timon made a special appearance at the meeting to shake hands with all the supervisors in recognition of their dedication to fire safety.

The video is available for free Web streaming at
