We've discovered there's more than one definition of art and certainly more than one way to enjoy it. As you can imagine, our focus is on the art of wine. Wine for its aesthetic beauty, wine for its collectable value, and wine for its consumable nature.

Art appreciation for what's in the bottle, what's outside the bottle and even the bottle itself can be created with seductive artistic qualities. There is the art of winemaking and an entire genre devoted to wine label art. In fact, the wine label is often what catches a consumer's eye and stops them as they peruse racks of wine. The label creates an image and reflects the uniqueness of both the winery and the wine within. In fact, creating a wine label can be as painstaking as making a good wine.

Because a good deal of our whole existence revolves around wine, we are naturally drawn to the genius of what lies within the bottle. Winemaking is both a science and an art. More than just liquefied grapes, wine is the end product of so many variables. Where the grapes are grown, heredity, weather conditions, sun exposure, amount of water during growing season (or lack thereof), time and temperature when grapes are picked, how much time it takes to go from the fields to processing.

The human factors that can be controlled - the crushing, pressing, monitoring, tasting, filtering, blending and maturing - fall under the artistry of the winemaker or vintner. A true artist, the vintner makes sure the quality of the wine created is maintained when it is bottled.

Then there's the art of the sommelier, a highly trained and knowledgeable wine professional well versed in the art of wine service. The principal work of a sommelier is in the area of wine procurement, storage and wine cellar rotation, but is best known for providing expert advice to customers.

And tasting is an art to be savored and enjoyed. The senses are aroused with wine: sight, smell, touch, and taste. Include hearing if you're popping a bottle of sparkling wine and capture the sound of its escaping gases of the bubbly goodness within.

We have a unique twist in mind for marrying art and wine together. Vino 100 welcomes local artist Randall Williams for an evening of creating art while enjoying wine. If you've ever dreamed of sitting with a brush in one hand and a glass of vino in the other, then this class is for you. With the stroke of a brush and a pop of a cork, we'll be learning by doing while drinking good wine. How consumable is that?
