This weekend, the Saugus Speedway hosts its 12th annual Spring Home & Garden Show - continuing today and tomorrow at 22500 Soledad Canyon Road in Saugus.

The event originated twelve years ago, when the management at Saugus Speedway saw the need for an expo in town that catered to Santa Clarita homeowners. Bringing local homeowners together with contractors and professionals, and having the opportunity to talk about the possibilities of home improvement design, remodels, additions, etc, just made good sense. With Santa Clarita developing at the pace it was, homeowners needed the convenience of being able to talk with several contractors, be presented with choices, and see how best to achieve their individual home improvement project goals.

The idea snowballed into Santa Clarita's only Home and Garden Show. The popularity of this three-day show has increased each year. Starting out with only 40 exhibitors, it now boasts in excess of 100, encompassing a variety of home improvement products and services. It is unique among events of its type because it has the added value of the Open Air Market on Sunday, with an additional 500 sellers of "everything under the sun."

The Open Air Market provides a plethora of fun shopping and bargaining, from clothes to jewelry to fashion accessories, fresh fruits and vegetables, collectors items, antiques, and inventory liquidation sales.

One of the many perks of this weekend's show, besides being able to talk directly with the professionals about their products and services, is the many discounts that are offered by the businesses. With the professionals spending three days at Saugus Speedway just to meet with homeowners, there's never been a better time to make a deal.

Pools and spas, windows, flooring, shutters and blinds, garage improvement/remodelers, contractors, kitchen and bath remodels, water purification systems, real estate, mortgage lenders and insurance professionals, satellite providers, home entertainment systems, specialty furniture, landscapers, hardscapers, muralists, painting contractors, etc. - these are just some of the services that you can comparison-shop for the best deal to achieve your home improvement goals. From small solutions and projects to larger remodeling plans, come out and gather ideas, brochures and business cards so that you can have the information you need when you are ready to do that project.

The show continues today from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m., and tomorrow from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. under the huge tent on the Speedway racetrack. Admission is only $1.50 for adults, and children under 12 are free. The Open Air Market, in business for over 40 years, will also be open Sunday from 7 a.m.- 3 p.m. Sunday's live entertainment will be rock and blues music provided by The Kyle Culkin Band. There will also be the usual assortment of fresh barbecue food and snacks presented on the Food Court. There's something going on for the whole family.
