Canyon Theatre Guild update: upcoming events

Free admission for unemployed

The Canyon Theatre Guild would like to thank all those who volunteered and participated in their Pirate Gala and Festival of the Arts last weekend.

Kopit & Yeston's "Phantom" is in full swing and will continue to run through Oct. 31. It has been extremely well-received.

Performance dates and times:
Friday evenings 8 p.m. - Oct.16 - Oct. 30
Saturday matinées 2 p.m. - Oct. 24, Oct. 31
Saturday evenings 8 p.m. - Oct. 17 - Oct. 31
Sunday matinees 2 p.m.- Oct.18 - Oct. 25

Mike Davies, the resident Englishman and Shakespeare aficionado, is putting together a company of players to perform "Twelfth Night" at the CTG. The performances will be over two weekends in the early part of January. If interested in helping in any way, including performing, contact Davies at

Brad Alden will perform Friday Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. on the CTG stage for his CD release concert "Escape From Suburbia." He will be joined on stage by CTG VP Billy Davis as well as Jill Kocalis Scott. COC student David Pramik will open.

Tickets are available at or at the CTG box office the night of, if any are left. Brad has a Facebook fan page, too.

The Canyon Theatre Guild and the Santa Clarita Regional Theatre will offer free theater for the rest of the year to those who find themselves unemployed. Upon showing proof of unemployment you may receive free tickets to shows for yourself and your family.

Sometimes, people need to escape from the harsh reality of today's economic conditions and theater can provide that escape. Our new season is filled with comedies and musicals and we think that putting some music and laughter in people's lives will help them through this difficult period.
