Thank you, Santa Clarita Valley

It's only through the kind donations of others that the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry can help feed the people in our valley who are considered "food insecure" - those who must skip meals, or eat non-nutritional foods just to satisfy their hunger.

I'm sure that the thought of hungry children right here in our very own valley is just not acceptable to residents of the SCV. We all know how very important nutritious food is to the growth of our children. With approximately 50 percent of our clients being children - our commitment is that "no child in the Santa Clarita Valley should go to bed hungry."

Thank you to the letter carriers of Santa Clarita for your time and efforts in collecting the approximately 23 tons (46,000 lbs.) of food during the NALC Food Drive on Saturday, May 10. This donation will help sustain us through the summer months when need for our services is at its highest level all year since children are out of school and can not take part in the free breakfast or lunch programs they provided.

Thank you to our volunteers for your talents and tireless efforts during the NALC food drive and throughout the year as you help store, sort, shelf, bag and distribute all donations to your neighbors in need.

On behalf of the Santa Clarita Valley Food Pantry, thank you, Santa Clarita, for your continued generosity to your community, in particular to those less fortunate. We should all feel very proud to live in such a
caring and supportive community. I know I do.
