Buca di Beppo in Valencia Town Center Mall hosts a fundraiser tonight, Nov 5. from 4:30 to 10 p.m. to raise funds and awareness for Project Lifesaver and the Special Needs Registry.

Buca is generously donating 20 percent of each diner's total food sales (including carry-out) toward this philanthropic endeavor.

Support for this worthy cause will help local families with loved ones at risk for wandering acquire the Project Lifesaver radio-frequency-chipped bracelet, which helps law enforcement quickly locate them should they get out.

The event will be hosted by representatives of the following Project Lifesaver partners: the city of Santa Clarita, the SCV Sheriff's Station, the Santa Clarita Autism Asperger Network (SCAAN), the SCV Committee on Aging and the SCV Senior Center.

Project Lifesaver is a safety tool that helps Search and Rescue professionals locate people who have gone missing, particularly those with autism or Alzheimer's disease.

The Santa Clarita Valley Special Needs Registry assists law enforcement personnel to be more responsive in emergencies to SCV residents with special needs.

Maintained by the city of Santa Clarita in conjunction with the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Department, the registry can help law enforcement identify those who cannot identify themselves due to a disability or special need, such as Alzheimer's, dementia, autism or a speech disorder.
