Listen to your father

Kevin Buck needs to expand his horizons.

His recent local commentary ("A tale of core conservative values," Oct. 27) about conservatives was entertaining at best, the best being his interjection about his dad telling him a person would be judged by the company of people he keeps. I am glad he learned that from his dad, a very wise man. President Barack Obama also told us to do this.

Buck says he has never voted for a Republican. I personally would not be proud of that claim.

Since Obama's election we have witnessed a stream of Obama friends and appointments cross our paths as advisors and czars.

Let's review some of them: The reverend racist who cursed America, an activist who was involved in bombing a police station, a tax evader, one who claimed to be a communist, a "Reality Check" czar who blatantly lied about a reality, and one who recently praised dictator and murderer Mao Tse Tung.

This week, senior fellow Thomas Sowell asked in his commentary column why we should assume Barack Obama didn't know what these people were like after associating with them for years, decades in some cases.

Instead, people complain about how these appointees were not vetted properly. That does not work. Did Obama think America would not discover who these people were and what they believed in?

It's time you broadened your mind Mr. Buck. Obama has surrounded himself with people who basically reject American values. To make it complete, he apologized for you and me when he went to Europe.

The only consistent change we have seen is a path leading to a meltdown of our country.

Thanks to Obama's close associates and friends, our common dream of a strong, growing country is now at risk. So please Mr.
Buck, put all the pieces together and go back to the beginning and listen to your wise father's (and Barack Obama's) advice.
