The SCV Moms Blog, which helps mothers and families deal with job loss, health challenges and other adverse personal circumstances, kicks off its "Neighbor-to-Neighbor" crusade with an event at family owned Mojito Cuisine on The Old Road Dec. 4.

Members will enjoy a free buffet, happy hour-priced drinks and a special SCV Moms Blog Mojito, created by Mojito owners Rolondo and Ivonne Verdeci.

"This time of year, we all want to do something for others," said SCV Moms Blog Founder Jackie MacDougall. "There are families in our own neighborhood who could use our help year-round. Whether they're having a hard time putting food on the table, getting the kids to school or keeping a roof over their heads, we want to lessen the burden however we can and let them know they matter to us. The support of our own community is so important, especially in such a difficult time."

Director of Business Development Andrea Pohlot hopes this can also be an opportunity for businesses to show their goodwill to the community.

MacDougall and the SCV Moms Blog are committed to supporting local businesses and she hopes business owners will consider the Neighbor-to-Neighbor program as an opportunity to give back to patrons who support them.

The program is not intended to single out families and make them uncomfortable, which is why the recipients and those who nominate them will all remain anonymous.

Donations of gift cards from local restaurants, cleaning and babysitting services, toiletries, food items, cash contributions, and more can be arranged for pickup.

Hardship can bring a family to its knees. But oftentimes, those same families struggle silently, afraid to reach out for help. SCV Moms Blog is on a personal mission to assist those in the community facing that daily battle.
