Tell me — who speaks for the poor?

Yesterday (Nov. 7) I witnessed a historical vote in the passing of HR3962, known as the Affordable Health Care for America Act.

This battle for true health care reform has existed since my Aunt was born in 1905 when Teddy Roosevelt was president.

The debate for health care that is affordable for the average American continues until this day, while other free democratic nations like Israel are assisting their citizens by offering them some form of government health care options. It is time that the United States of America catch up with the rest of the civilized world and start truly caring for those of our citizens who are in true need.

I reside in a very conservative district and my Congressional representative has chosen not to represent a growing part of his constituents' needs.

It is my prayer that he will see the needs of those who have no voice and become the voice for those who make $30,000 to $70,000 a year, the unemployed (not by choice) and the so-called working poor.

Who speaks for them?
