'Christmas in Ireland' concert tonight at COC Performing Arts Center

'Nutcracker' on stage Saturday night

Here are events at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center at College of the Canyons this weekend and next:

* COC Presents Danu: A Christmas in Ireland on Friday, Dec. 4 at 8 p.m.
Description:  A musical journey to native Ireland featuring virtuosi players on flute, tin whistle, fiddle, button accordion, bouzouki and vocals in Irish and English. Tickets range from $25 to $55. 

* COC Music: A Winter Spectacular on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 7 p.m.
Description: The Canyons Prelude Strings, COC Student Orchestra and Symphony of the Canyons combine to present a concert of orchestral winter classics including Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker Suite.” Tickets range from $5 to $10.

* Special Event: Go Country 105FM Phil Vassar with Jonathan Singleton & The Grove on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 7 p.m.
Description:  Phil Vassar brings his heartfelt ballads to the stage at the Santa Clarita Performing Arts Center. Also performing: Jonathan Singleton & The Grove, newcomers to the country music scene who released their first single, "Livin' in Paradise" in March.  Tickets range from $30 to $50. 

* COC Music: Annual Holiday Concert on Friday, Dec. 11 at 7:30 p.m.
Description: The concert will present traditional holiday classics by the award-winning College of the Canyons Jazz Ensemble and the Lab Jazz Combo, both under the direction of KC Manji. Tickets range from $5 to $10.

* COC Choir Presents: A Taste of the Holidays on Saturday, Dec. 12 at 8 p.m.
Description: The College of the Canyons Choirs presents an evening filled with diverse musical selections -- with Christmas and Hanukkah songs, along with multicultural pieces representing a variety of languages and styles throughout the centuries. Tickets range from $5 to $10.
