May is gone and June has arrived, bringing graduations, Father's Day and the countdown to Fourth of July. I have a wedding anniversary this month, too. It's hard for me to comprehend that I've been married 30-plus years!

Kudos to good citizens Poole and Shaffery
It always warms my heart when I find such good corporate citizens as the folks at Poole and Shaffery. At the SCV Chamber Mixer David Poole and John Shaffery presented checks to two worthy causes in the SCV. A check for $5,000 was claimed by Paul De La Certa, director of the Small Business Development Center (which is hosted by College of the Canyons) and Bruce Getzan, dean of economic development at College of the Canyons. A whopping $12,000 was presented to LetMeSail, Inc., an organization for people with disabilities that offers social, recreational and educational programs. Gary Spindt, a founder of LetMeSail, Inc., accepted the donation.
