Do we really need more like Boydston?

Emmy Bonja states (“We need people more like Boydston,” Nov. 16) that we need people more like TimBen Boydston.

I believe we need elected officials who treat all residents with respect, courtesy and professionalism.

If Boydston is to be the “game changer,” then he needs to ratchet down the savior-of-the-masses rhetoric and learn to work constructively, not rage and tilt at windmills in order to gain votes.

City council members understand the need to work for the entire community and their fiduciary duties regarding spending taxpayer dollars.

Boydston’s solution? Sue the city.

Bonja is an educator yet she did not bother to educate herself on driveway width standards, information which is readily available on the city’s Web site.

She could have met with city staff at any time to discuss the issues.

For those who meet the financial criteria, there are free money grants available from the city to pay for required code corrections.

Reasonable people understand the need to maintain standards for the benefit of the entire community and are willing to cooperate.

I attempted to discuss the Bonelli Tract issue with Boydston and considered myself his supporter until he became rude and overbearing.

He was belligerent, raised his voice repeatedly, talked over me, did not listen and berated me several times, insisting I did not know what I was talking about because I disagreed with him.

What can you and I expect if he is elected?

He orchestrated this Bonelli Tract brouhaha to garner more votes, encourages residents to complain to the City Council instead of working first with staff, is very willing to expose taxpayer money unnecessarily to lawsuits and is unwilling to maintain an open mind and enter into civilized discourse on contentious issues.

Do we really need people more like Boydston?
