A Canyon Country woman was arrested after she stole her father's dog and $400, according to a sheriff's report.

Shortly after 8:30 p.m. Saturday, the woman, whose name was not released, visited her father's home on Flowerpark Drive in Canyon Country.

She told her father that she needed help with her drug problem. The father told deputies that his daughter appeared to be under the influence of drugs, so he twice asked her to leave, and when she did not, he called 911.

After hanging up the phone, he noticed his daughter in the kitchen and followed her, only to find her going through cabinets and drawers to find a knife. She finally found a knife and turned toward her father, causing him to panic and leave the home.

He ran outside, staying within viewing distance of his home to see when his daughter would leave.

Moments later, she left the house. The father told deputies that he saw her leave with his dog.

Shortly after she left, the man went back inside his house and searched each room to see if his daughter stole anything else. When he inspected his bedroom, he noticed that she took his wallet.

He called Washington Mutual to cancel his debit card, since he said his daughter knew the account's personal identification number, and he was concerned that she would try to take money out of his account.

When he contacted the bank, officials told him they could not cancel the card since their computer systems were down.

The next day, deputies made a routine traffic stop at about 2:35 p.m., only to discover that the driver of the vehicle was the daughter who was reported in the family disturbance the day before.

Deputies found the dog and $400 in cash which was taken from the victim's Washington Mutual bank account. The woman was arrested and booked at the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Station.
