Still a problem

In response to Emmy Bonja's letter "Setting the record straight" (Dec. 9): Driveway standards have been in place since 1927. I also read statements saying you had spent $35,000 to redo your driveway. Your driveway is not original to your home. While your garage is situated at an angle, there is still a clear path of travel from the street to your garage.

There are other code issues. Claiming six city employees do not know correct residential driveway standards is unbelievable. You constructed an addition and say no one mentioned your driveway.

In 2006, enforcement was only driven by complaints. With proactive enforcement, issues are identified cohesively; the same rules applied throughout the neighborhood. Inexpensive demolition work would accomplish what was being requested at your home.

I checked again yesterday regarding the free money grants. There is still money in that pot.

You attended meetings such as your unscheduled appearance before the Canyon Country Advisory Committee lauding TimBen Boydston's involvement in rallying you before the City Council, and wrote letters to The Signal supporting Boydston's candidacy.

You are capable of joining others in your neighborhood without Boydston to elicit a response from City Hall. You already had gotten one before the City Council meeting.

Therein lies the problem. City staff and the City Council do work with residents to achieve the best possible result.

I have a problem with candidates and others who manipulate situations for their own benefit and when asked to clarify, are rude and belligerent, shouting down and berating people without hearing them out.
Bonja, I hope your neighborhood works with city staff to resolve the issue, keeping in mind what is best for the entire city.

I was not heard, supported or assisted by Boydston. Not now nor a few years ago. But it was not campaign time then.
