'Who do you serve?' topic of UM service
On Sunday, the Rev. Rachel Allen, associate pastor of Santa Clarita United Methodist Church, will bring the message "Who do you serve?" during the church's 9:30 a.m. worship celebration. The Chancel Voices will also sing. Pastor Stan Fix will continue his series on "Confronting current news with Scripture" at 8 a.m. and 10:45 a.m.

Noelle Flinn will lead the singing at 8 a.m. and with the Fellowship Band at 10:45 a.m. Sunday school will be offered at 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. Christian education will be celebrated during Sunday's worship services at 9:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. at Santa Clarita United Methodist Church. The church is located at 26640 Bouquet Canyon Road.

UU of SCV collects money for river
Barbara Wampole from Friends of the Santa Clarita River will address the local Unitarian Univeralist congregation during the Sunday morning services. She will speak about the organization's dedication the protection, enhancement and management of the Santa Clara River. Grace Baptist offers anger course
Grace Baptist Church will continue its six-week class for men and women in how to deal with anger. The classes will meet on Wednesday nights from 7 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in rooms D222 and D223. No signup is needed; just show up. Hope-n-Mic set at Nazarene church
This Thursday, and every third Thursday of the month, Newhall Church of the Nazarene will host "Hope-n-Mic," a new open mic forum for Christian musicians and their friends. Guests are invited to come and play their music or to stop in and listen. All ages and musical styles are welcome, provided the lyrics are appropriate to a Christian audience. Piano, keyboard, amps, sound systems and drums are provided.

Speech series offered at CBS
As part of a new monthly schedule of special Shabbat services, Congregation Beth Shalom will present guest speakers and relevant sermon topics during a special musical theme prayer service on the second Friday evening of each month.

The inaugural "Special Topics" Shabbat Service on Friday will feature Rabbi Ira Rosenfeld, who will examine how the journey of the ancient Israelites is so important in making sense of own experiences, celebrations and struggles. The service will begin at 8 p.m. at CBS, located at 21430 Centre Pointe Parkway.
