Santa Clarita WorkSource Center to open at COC Feb. 16

The Santa Clarita WorkSource Center will open on Tuesday, Feb. 16, 2010 at its new location in the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center at College of the Canyons. The WorkSource Center will continue to serve clients at its current location at 20655 Soledad Canyon until Feb. 16.

The new WorkSource location will continue to provide the same great services to job seekers and businesses, with additional new resources, completely free of charge. The Center offers services to provide job seekers with the necessary tools to search and be prepared for employment opportunities, while giving employers access to hundreds of potential employees.

"The Santa Clarita WorkSource Center's new location at the Dr. Dianne G. Van Hook University Center allows job seekers and businesses WorkSource Center services, as well as those from College of the Canyons affiliated organizations," Mayor Laurene Weste said. "WorkSource clients can also receive free access to career training services and educational opportunities in close proximity to the Small Business Development Center."

The WorkSource Center also offers access to necessary communications tools crucial to the job search process, including internet access, computers, phones, fax machines and more. WorkSource clients can also participate in a variety of workshops focusing on interview techniques, résumé creation, cover letter writing and more.

Local businesses can utilize the new location to host conference room interviews, advertise available positions via the WorkSource Center online database and learn more about Enterprise Zone tax benefits. Accelerating the hiring process, the WorkSource Center also offers pre-screening services to ensure access to well-qualified candidates.

The WorkSource Center is made possible due to funding and support from a variety of partners. All services are provided to employers and job seekers at no cost through the Federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and the City of Santa Clarita in partnership with Goodwill Southern California, the Employment Development Department (EDD), the County of Los Angeles Community and Senior Service, College of the Canyons, and the Department of Rehabilitation.
