Thanks for the trip down memory lane

I just finished reading Phil Rizzo's column "Nostalgia makes you feel good" (The Signal, Feb. 24).

What a great column and what a great way to start my day. There is something magical and comforting about the sights, sounds and smells of yesterday.

I have an old, brown glass milk bottle from Van Nuys Quality Dairy sitting on a shelf in my kitchen. It's a reminder of many trips to that dairy as a child with my mom, brother and whichever friends were hanging around that day.

We'd pile into her early model VW Beetle with hopes that there was extra money in the grocery budget that week for fudgecicles. That dairy had the best fudgecicles.

While my mom exchanged her metal basket of empty half-gallon bottles for full ones, we'd go hang on the fences surrounding the cows.

Yes, it was a working dairy where they raised and milked the cows and pasteurized and bottled the milk.

Each trip was short but definitely long on good memories.
