GRANADA HILLS - Local design firm The Sherwood Group made a sweep of nearly a dozen awards at Sunday night's ADDY awards dinner, the annual ceremony for the Los Angeles North chapter of the American Advertising Federation.

Will Sherwood accepted the awards for his company's work. This was also his seventh year of chairing the L.A. North ADDY awards.
"The awards help establish credibility," he said.

About 35 people turned out for the dinner, held at the Odyssey restaurant.

The ADDYs recognize creative excellence in advertising, graphic design and Web design, in the elements of advertising, illustration and photography.

Chapter winners advance to the regional and national award competitions, said Bryan Hauge, president of the North Los Angeles AAF chapter. Hauge is president of Valencia-based Stacey Hauge Printing Inc.

The judging was done at California Institute of the Arts by a group of out-of-area judges, he said.

"This is a room full of powerful people," Hauge said at the start of the awards presentation.

Santa Clarita-based Mellady Direct marketing earned both an Award of Distinction and Award of Excellence, for its work for the SCV Sheriff's Foundation and The Signal.

"This is the third consecutive year we have received ADDY awards for our work and we are honored to be recognized among the best in our industry," President Jill Mellady said. "Credit for our success really belongs to our clients, who give us the freedom to create the best work possible."

Watters Edge Design nabbed three awards, for a vehicle wrap, a brochure and a corporate identity package.

Other local award-winning companies included Point of View Communications and Ed Ouellette Photography, Maria Elena's, Stacey Hauge Printing, Selling Points Design, eSolutions and Power Media Group.
