Tim and Janet Trotter of Castaic are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Melissa "Missy" Trotter to Kristopher "Kris" Sackrider of Canyon Country.

The bride-elect is the sister of Latisha Trotter of Oxnard and the granddaughter of Jean Baker of Fallon, Nev. and Pat Austin of Cameron, Mo. She was born in Glendale (as were her dad and sister) and is a 2005 graduate of Valencia High School.
She attended College of the Canyons part-time to earn general education credits. As a youth she was a medaled USAC skater and played team basketball.

Currently she enjoys jeepin', the outdoors, homemaking and adult school ceramics. She is employed by Superco Specialty Products.
The groom-elect is the son of Roger and Tina Sackrider of Canyon Country. He is the brother of Brian Sackrider and Michael Sackrider of Canyon Country and the grandson of Richard and Carol Larson of Phelan and Louise Hoffmann of North Hollywood.
He is 2005 graduate of Valencia High School and was a California Highway Patrol cadet for seven years - serving his last year as captain of his peers. He is serving as a corporal in the Marine Corps.

He played little league ball as a boy. His career aspiration has always been to become a CHP officer. He was mentored in the SCV by the Newhall CHP. He also wanted to serve his country and is active duty as a crew chief on a V-22 Osprey, Unit 204, at MCAS New River in Jacksonville, N.C.

The engagement was announced Feb. 15 at 1:30 a.m. when Missy awoke her parents and cheerfullly told them the news. Kris simultaneously called his parents. Kris had consulted with both sets of parents beforehand he proposed.

The couple have remained high school sweethearts for five years. It has been difficult the last two since Kris is in the Marines in North Carolina The Trotter and Sackrider families are good friends and socialize often.

The couple will be wed in a formal ceremony in the fall. They plan to honeymoon at Disney World, Fla.
The couple will make their home in North Carolina.
