Whitman a Republican?

Regarding "Whitman cuts ties with Kellar" (The Signal, Jan. 31).

Whitman's spokesman e-mailed: "Bob Kellar's remarks stoke the worst type of political dialogue.

Meg Whitman is running for governor to help bring Californians together for a common purpose."

One wonders what that purpose is? Possibly to grant amnesty to illegal immigrants? Or just give them the state's treasury?

Meg Whitman claims to be a "conservative" Republican. She contributed the maximum $4,000 to Barbara Boxer's campaign in 2002 and was signator of a letter to the California technology executives touting Boxer for re-election.

Whitman has also said she was a huge fan of alleged Communist Van Jones, who was forced to resign from his czarist position in the Obama administration.

She has repeatedly attacked the initiative process and ballot measures we have here in California. (Without which we would never get the attention of "our" state legislators)

None of these things strike me as the thoughts or actions of a Republican, let alone a "conservative Republican."

According to the Huffington Post, Whitman never registered to vote until 2002, and did not register as a Republican until 2007.

I guess being a billionaire makes one think if they say they are a Republican, they are a Republican.

After all, it worked for the so-called Republican Michael Bloomberg in New York. Why not Whitman in California?
