Jacqueline Yuri Kikuchi
Jacqueline Yuri Kikuchi of Canyon Country earned Dean’s List recognition for the 2008 Spring Semester from Lafayette College in Easton, Pa. To qualify for the Dean’s List students must earn at least a 3.6 GPA out of a possible 4.0.

Daniel Cheney
Daniel James Cheney received a bachelor of arts in Christian service from Clear Creek Baptist Bible College in Pineville Ky. on May 9, 2008. He was also honored with the Zondervan Greek Award, which recognizes those who demonstrate excellence in Greek study. Daniel, a native of Valencia, is married to Kim Burchett Cheney. They have one daughter together.

Alvin Fikejs
Alvin Fikejs of Valencia earned Dean’s List recognition from Westminster College for the 2008 spring semester. Alvin is a senior business administration major. He is a son of Jeffrey and Dorcas Fikejs, and a graduate of Saugus High School. Deans List recognition is for students who attain a GPA of at least 3.6 our of a possible 4.0.

McKenzie Carpenter
Millikin University in Decatur, Ill. announces that junior McKenzie K. Carpenter of Valencia was named to the Dean’s List for the 2008 Spring semester. To be eligible, students must complete at least 12 graded credits during the semester and earn a GPA of at least 3.5.

Brytanie Piana
Santa Clarita resident Brytanie Piana graduated cum laude from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas with a degree in biology.

Dayna Smith
Dayna Smith of Valencia earned Dean’s List recognition for the 2008 spring semester from the University of Portland. She is a freshman majoring in business administration. Students need at least a 3.5 GPA to make the Dean’s List.

Martin Villa
Cadet First Class Martin Villa of Canyon Country was one of 217 cadets to graduate from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, Conn. He received a bachelor of science degree in business management. During commencement exercises, graduates of the Class of 2008 received their commissions as ensigns in the U.S. Coast Guard from Vice President Richard B. Cheney. They will serve a minimum of five years. Martin was a 2003 graduate of Bishop Alemany High School. He is the son of Lori Villa of Canyon Country. His first tour of duty will be as engineering officer on the USCGC Munro in Kodiak, Alaska.
