The city of Santa Clarita WorkSource Center, in cooperation with Microsoft Corporation, is now offering free "Elevate America" vouchers for e-learning training courses and select certification exams.

Vouchers are distributed at the Santa Clarita WorkSource Center at the College of the Canyons University Center, Suite 250. 26455 Rockwell Canyon Road, Valencia 91355.

Microsoft Corporation launched Elevate America in February to offer individuals the opportunity to enhance their technology skills.

Accessible through various WorkSource and one-stop locations nationwide, Elevate America enables individuals to enhance their skills sets via e-learning training opportunities in general skills such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and more, as well as specific training and certification programs for IT professionals interested in expanding their knowledge of IT programs.

"The Elevate America program provides significant opportunities for individuals who are employed, unemployed or looking to enter into the job market and expand their skills," Mayor Laurene Weste said. "Since the program is offered through our local WorkSource Center, this is a great opportunity for job seekers to gain or refresh their skills, acquire certification and seek potential job opportunities in the local market."

Voucher registration is available Monday through Friday, with vouchers distributed on Fridays. Vouchers are required to participate in the courses offered, which include:

* General e-learning
Self-guided Web-based training in specific topic areas, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Power Point, Access, etc.

* Technical certification training
Self-guided Web-based courses designed to provide the trainee with skills needed to pass the Microsoft Technical Certification Exam. This course includes training in Windows Server, SQL Server, Share Point, and Visual Studio.

* Certification exams
Vouchers cover the cost of exam certificates to obtain certification in Microsoft programs, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.
