Eternal Valley Memorial Park, a local Dignity® Memorial provider, announced its 22nd Annual Memorial Day Ceremony designed to bring the community together to celebrate, honor and remember America's heroes who gave their lives in the line of duty.

The event will be held on Monday, May 31, at 10 a.m. at Eternal Valley Memorial Park, 23287 N. Sierra Hwy., Newhall 91321.

"It's an honor to provide this opportunity for our community to remember and honor those brave individuals who made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation, men and women who have died serving our country," said Jim Biby, market director of the Dignity Memorial network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers in the Los Angeles area.

The distinctive sound and appearance of the Condor Squadron aircraft flying overhead will mark the commencement of the 22nd Annual Tribute to Veterans, which is organized by the Santa Clarita Valley Veterans Memorial Committee and Eternal Valley Memorial Park.

More than 500 area Brownies, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and young marines will place more than 4,000 American flags on the graves of veterans.

The Master of Ceremonies will be Santa Clarita Chamber of Commerce President Bill Kennedy, a retired Colonel of the U.S. Air Force with guest speaker Patrick Connelly, Lt. Commander, USNR, Retired.

Participants include Santa Clarita's Elks' Lodge (BPOE #2379), Wm. S. Hart High School JROTC, Veterans from the Lost Patrol-Vietnam Veterans of America, Chapter 355, American Legion Post 507, VFW Post 6110, VFW Post 6885, Pastor Robert Burns of the Santa Clarita Christian Center, the SCV Concert Band, the All Veterans Burial Squad from San Fernando and American Legion Post 507.

Near the end of the first portion of the Day's ceremony, there will be a special tribute to the Veterans of the Pacific Theater of WWII.

Aaron Shaw, a renowned Scottish bag piper in full Highland Military Dress Uniform, will then invite the audience to the Memorial Wall for the reading of the more than 850 names inscribed on the Veterans Memorial Wall.
