Janice Kopanski and James Copelan, of Glendale, are pleased to announce the engagement of their daughter, Brooke Kopanski, to Kyle Brandt, of Irvine.

The bride-elect is the daughter of the late Tom Kopanski and the sister of Laurel Kopanski Hubert, of Glendale, and Nathan Copelan, of Pasadena. She is the granddaughter of Bob and Peggy Kopanski, of Palmdale, and Joe and Audrey Mackey, of San Gabriel.

The bride-elect was born in Panorama City and moved from Sylmar to Saugus soon thereafter. She attended Fun for Fours, Rosedell Elementary, Santa Clarita Christian, Arroyo Seco Junior High School and is a 2000 graduate of Saugus High School.

She went on to receive a B.A. in Communication Studies from California State University, Northridge in 2004 and a J.D. from the University of La Verne in 2007. She was admitted to the California Bar in 2010.

She is employed by Tharpe & Howell.

The groom-elect is the son of Jerry and Georgia Goldberg and Robert and Ellen Brandt, of Chicago. He is the brother of Ashley Brandt Sharpe, Casey Brandt, Austin Goldberg, Tyler Brandt, Christopher Brandt, and Natalie Brandt, all of Chicago.

He is the grandson of Robert and Lorraine Brandt, of Chicago.

An Illinois native, the groom-elect graduated from Chicago's Stevenson High School in 1997, and earned a B.A. in English from Princeton University in 2001. He moved to Los Angeles after appearing on MTV's "The Real World: Chicago," and played the character of Philip Kiriakis on NBC's "Days of Our Lives" from 2003 to 2009.

He is now the head writer and producer of the nationally syndicated sports radio show "The Jim Rome Show" and ESPN's "Jim Rome is Burning."

He is employed by Premiere Radio and ESPN.

The couple met in August 2008 and became engaged on Dec. 12. The engagement was announced by the couple on March 13.

The bride-elect's parents threw the couple an engagement party in Pasadena. Both of the couple's families attended. It was the first time the families had met and it could not have gone better, reports the couple.

The couple will wed on Sept. 18, at The Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla. They plan to honeymoon in Tahiti, Moorea and Bora Bora.

They will make their home in Irvine.
