It’s a sad day in Santa Clarita when anyone is forced to phone in a police report about burglars who stole everything but the kitchen sink.

Monday was a really bad day for one Canyon Country man, who was forced to report that even the kitchen sink was stolen.

Not only did thieves rip out his kitchen sink, they went upstairs and ripped out his bathroom sink as well, according to a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department report.

Quite simply, on Monday, after the homeowner returned from being away for two weeks, he went to his cupboard and his cupboard was gone — not bare, gone.

The kitchen of the house on Fieldwood Court, south of Poplar Point Lane, had been completely gutted. The owner immediately called the Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff’s Station.

Gone were the fridge and the stove. The rosewood cabinets were nowhere to be found.

A sheriff’s deputy responding to the crime, wrote in his report: “I could see that the entire contents of the kitchen was missing because I could see where the stove used to be by the missing floor tile and unpainted wall space.”

Deputies noted the only thing seen in the kitchen were pipes poking out of the wall where appliances once stood.

“All gas and water pipes were missing,” deputies said in their report.

The six cabinets ripped out of the wall were described as being made of rosewood and fixed with silver knobs, all with a total value of $1,800.

Add a kitchen sink described as white with a chrome faucet, a white stove and a bathroom sink inside a vanity that had an oak finish, and damages for the Canyon Country man rose to at least $2,200.

The homeowner has promised to send photographs of the kitchen before it was stripped to detectives assigned to his case.

Deputies noted that there was no sign of forced entry and are exploring the possibility that a former key-holding tenant at the house may be responsible.
