Why doesn’t the city, state or federal government make a deal with the banks to buy their foreclosures at a large discount and rent them out at a low price to the homeless and people who have lost their jobs?

They would not get it free — they can work, do things. We do not have funds to pay for things like cleaning up the streets, highways, parks, work at senior centers and many more things.

They could rent houses out for three to five years with the right to purchase the house at the going market value.

The banks would get paid back the total amount they foreclosed the house at and maybe a percentage of the increase of the house price .

Smarter minds than mine could work it out. I have been in real estate since 1979. I feel like the market will be higher in five years than what it is now.

The first ones to get the houses would be U.S. citizens; second, the ones who have applied for citizenship.
Just something to think about.
