Christian author to speak at Heart of the Canyons
Christian author Beth Moore will deliver a message to an estimated 80,000 women on Aug. 1-2 from Louisville, Ky. Local residents will be able to see the broadcast from Southern Christian Church at Heart of the Canyon Church. The event will take place from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on Aug. 1 and from 8:30 a.m. to noon the next day. Both broadcasts will be held at La Mesa Junior High, located at 26623 May Way in Canyon Country. Monthly meditation services
Jonathan Kraut, a local Buddhist, will be offering monthly meditation services on the second Thursday of every month at his home sanctuary in Canyon Country. For more information and directions, call Jonathan at (661) 618-1105.

Summer worship at First Presbyterian
Pastor Bill Barnes at the First Presbyterian Church of Newhall will preach a sermon series titled, “Games We Play When It All Goes Back in the Box Anyway.” The series will run through Aug. 31. Worship services are at 9 a.m. traditional and 10:45 a.m. contemporary style. The First Presbyterian Church of Newhall is located at 24317 N. Newhall Ave. in Newhall.

Hope-n-Mic night at  New Nazarene
Every third Thursday of the month, Newhall Church of the Nazarene will host “Hope-n-Mic,” a new open mic forum for Christian musicians and their friends. Guests are invited to come and play their music or to stop in and listen. All ages and musical styles are welcome, provided the lyrics are appropriate to a Christian audience. Piano, keyboard, amps, sound system and drums are provided. Bring any other instrument you want. Light refreshments will be served. Speakers planned for Beth Shalom
As part of a monthly schedule of special Shabbat services, Congregation Beth Shalom will present guest speakers and relevant sermon topics during a special musical theme prayer service on the second Friday evening of each month. The inaugural “Special Topics” Shabbat Service on Friday will feature Rabbi Ira Rosenfeld, who will examine how the journey of the ancient Israelites is so important in making sense of our own experiences, celebrations and struggles.
