Every Saturday from July 10 to Aug. 28, Central Park will be jam-packed with musicians, families, friends, food vendors and, of course, music lovers for the Santa Clarita tradition that is Concerts in the Park.  The Concerts in the Park series is free and takes place at Central Park in Santa Clarita. The concerts are set to begin at 7 p.m.; although, it is wise to arrive early with your lawn chairs, blankets and picnics as the spaces do fill up fast.

The eight-week concert series promises to be exciting, with sounds ranging from retro swing to R&B to rock. The 2010 Concerts in the Park series will showcase an impressive lineup, spanning multiple genres, comprised of popular tribute bands and high-energy performers.

Incendio, a world fusion Latin-guitar group, will be the first to hit the stage this summer. The band, set to perform on July 10, has recorded four critically acclaimed CDs and has performed hundreds of shows throughout the country.

Saturday, July 17, Platinum Rock Stars will revive the era of the 1980s hair bands. Their performance offers a timeline of rock ‘n’ roll featuring authentic recreations of Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Def Leppard and Bon Jovi.

Fantastic Diamond is an incredible tribute of the legendary Neil Diamond’s greatest hits, featuring extraordinary vocalist Kevin Hogan. Fantastic Diamond will take to the Central Park stage on July 24.

Another energetic band, the SCV All-Stars, is comprised of the some of Santa Clarita’s best A-list musical talent. Performing tribute songs from a wide variety of genres, the band is sure to give an all-star performance to remember on July 31.

For those looking to dance the night away, Zoot Suit Revue is the show to see on Aug. 7.  A nationally acclaimed retro swing, rockin’ oldies show with custom zoot suits, slick dance moves and music that covers artists as diverse as Brian Setzer, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Elvis and Frank Sinatra.

As the 2010 Concerts in the Park series begins to wind down, the performances continue to amp up.

On Aug. 14, Durell Coleman takes the stage. The band features “Star Search” winner Durell Coleman as well as multiple lead vocalists, choreographed dance steps and a powerful horn section. Durell Coleman performs all the hits of classic R&B and Motown, as well as current dance tunes.

Fans of the legendary group Chicago will want to see California Transit Authority perform on Aug. 21. Danny Seraphine, a founding member of Chicago and one of the world’s most highly respected drummers, will perform with his amazing band for a night of high-powered world class music.

The explosive summer concert series culminates with the return of one of Concerts in the Park’s most popular acts ever — Don’t Stop Believing. Featuring the songs and sounds of Journey, their soaring vocals and searing guitar riffs will take you on a journey to a “Higher Place.”
Be sure to put on your dancing shoes and catch one of the great Concerts in the Park and make it part of your family’s summer tradition. For more information on the 2010 Concerts in the Park series, please contact the city’s Arts and Events Office at (661) 286-4018 or visit
