On Monday, July 19, the Domestic Violence Center of the Santa Clarita Valley will host its annual charity golf tournament at the Valencia Country Club.

Santa Clarita Valley Sheriff's Captain Paul Becker will serve honorary chair of the event, which is set to kick off with breakfast at 8 a.m. followed by a shotgun start.

"The golf tournament encompasses two very important elements," Captain Becker said. "First, it will give us the opportunity to use a fun and relaxed setting to address the very serious issue and effects of domestic violence, as well as let people know that the Domestic Violence Center is here to help. Then the Center will be able to raise much needed funds to continue its programs and services to aid domestic violence victims and their families here in Santa Clarita."

The Domestic Violence Center of the Santa Clarita Valley serves victims of abuse and neglect within our community and strives to promote and preserve non-violent and non-abusive family systems through intervention, prevention and education.
Last year the center served more tyhan 1,000 women and children via hotline, support group and referral services.

All golfers will receive 18 holes of golf and will be presented with a commemorative gift bag. The day also includes breakfast, lunch, and refreshments on the course, as well as an after-tournament no-host bar, complimentary hors d'oevres and a prize raffle.
